Summer: Input needed!!!

We will be going with the family option for tickets. Ticket prices are $4 adults, $2 for seniors and students and $10 for upto three adults and all children living at the same address. Performing students do not have to pay admission of course. Thanks for all your input. To help with family expenses, the first two adults from different member families that email me at OurMusicalLife@ymail.com will receive a free adult ticket. Put free ticket in the subject field. Watch here and I will update this post when the two are chosen.

Local choir ticket costs: I just went to the Dairy Statesmen concert and paid $18 to get in (plus another $8 for supper). I went to the Parkside Concert and paid $15 for admission. I went to the Milwaukee Choral artists and paid $25. Our prices may go up next year so get everyone to come for our low introductory priced tickets!

Support Jeremy Peters and Solar Plexus

Jeremy Peters is the guitarist that recorded the Radiohead cover with teh Choir last summer. He will be playing on the Pokemon Theme Song and Always for the June 1 concert. Jeremy is on the creative team for Our Musical Life Inc. We are doing Cradle by the Joy Formidable for the simple reason that we have Jeremy coming to help the kids sound amazing! He is an extremely talented young man and a real Racine treasure. His band Solar Plexus is running an Indiegogo crowd funding project to fund a summer tour. This is your chance to get in on the I-knew-him-when train. Check out their project here: http://igg.me/at/SolarPlexusEP/x/1198576 and donate a couple bucks. I caught his band at Summer Fest last year. They were great!!

Watch these videos:

I have hired Jeremy to play with my groups since he was in highschool. He is the guitarist on the Still Alive videos, he palyed violin on the Gifford Children’s Choir Harvey Sollberger pieces and played Muse’s Butterflies and Hurricanes for a 5th grade graduation I led.

Concert Date and Time Set in Stone

The date and time are in stone now. June 1, 7 PM performance 5:30 PM practice. All we need is the venue which I will secure ASAP. I am aiming for the theater in Gifford Elementary, Park High School, Case High School, Horlick High School, Gilmore Middle School in that order. The choir should plan on attending rehearsal and preliminary filming of teh Pokemon song on June 1 at 5:30 PM.

MIC SWAT is Coming!!! They will be our special guests and will be coming from Evanston, Illinois to sing with us! See below for videos of some of the fun songs they have sung.

This is a ticketed event. I would like your thoughts on how to be fair to participants’ families i.e. a family pass, free ticket if you sell 4 free ticket for one adult etc. Otherwise tickets will be $4 adults, $2 students and seniors. We will need help getting the word out. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to benefit the choirs invloved including: MIC SWAT, Children’s Choir of teh Internet, Gifford Elementary’s Accent Choir and Red Apple’s choirs AppleChor and ApplePeal as well as Our Musical Life for concert expenses.

America’s Got Talent -Not This Year

Well, the America’s Got Talent people have not contacted us. They told me that they would by the middle of April if we made it, sooooo not happening. However, here is the plan. I knew nothing about the show or that they would be interested in a choir when they requested us to audition. We didn’t have anything really solid to send them. The Minecraft video shows our creativity but not the crazy talent that the choir now posesses. And they do.

Once we have the Pokémon video and later the Robot Unicorn Attack video, these are the kinds of things that will show the kids depth of talent. Unlike most performing ensembles, We intend to keep the performance pieces in our repertoire. We will perform them each semester in addition to the new things we learn.

We will submit the videos next year or even posibly attend a cattle call audition in a nearby city. What we have to offer is unique in all the world. Our engineer Mr. Halliday is working hard to produce the mechanics we need. We cast the soloists for the Pokémon song. We have the Dr. Who song on the fast track. We have Mr. Griffin adding his polish and knowledge. Parents are stepping up and taking on support roles. Ladies and Gentlemen, these kids are going to shine!

If you have an opinion about times, dates and particpation for summer session please share them. Now that it is clear we are not filming for AGT I have to schedule many summer activities as I’m sure you do too. If we have 20 members we will hold summer choir camp, but WHEN is a question. Let me know what you think.

May 2 Rehearsal Cancelled

Both Mr. Griffin and I have concerts on May 2 with our school choirs so there will be no rehearsal for Children’s Choir of teh Internet that day.

Red Apple (my school) has a concert on May 9 but Mr. Griffin will still run the rehearsal for all other members. It will be a good opportunity to work with the soloists and choir.

Opportunity Knocks

One of our goals is to seek out online audiences and make entertainments specific to their communities. The TV show Dr. Who just had an episode with a beautiful song in it that will work really well for teh Choir. Opportunities like this have to be grabbed and shared as quickly as possible. Our target audience will find this extreemly entertaining. I am trying to transcribe the music for tomorrow’s rehearsal.

For anyone who saw the episode, we will have the sopranos on the girls part, altos on the man’s part and a short solo part for a girl with a pure straight tone.

Please read the last post if you haven’t already.

Robot Scores, Pokemon Roles, T-shirts etc

We are aiming at June 1 as the new concert date.

This week we will audition anyone who was not at the rehearsal April 4 and is interested in one of the Pokemon roles. We will then be measuring kids and making costumes. No auditions will be held after this week.

T-shirt sizes for kids that missed rehearsal and have not yet turned in a form need to be turned in this week. I will try and guess a size for those who do not have it done by Thursday April 11 and it will probably be too big. I have to get the order in.

There is a Cloud Cult Concert on April 20 in Madison. My car is full but check out the band website if interested: http://www.cloudcult.com/home.cfm Craig Minowa gave me an interview for ChoralNet, a professional resource website I help lead. If interested the article can be found here: http://www.choralnet.org/view/414184

High Scores for Robot Unicorn Attack will be kept and updated on this post:
